Cowboy Country Round Up

Come  hungry and stay all day!

Welcome to the Cowboy Country Round Up !

presented by the D'Hanis Education Foundation

If a hearty chuck wagon meal cooked on an open fire, cowboy-style entertainment, western art and collectibles, and dancin’ the night away sounds like a big time to you, you best make plans to spend the last Saturday in February at the Cowboy Country Round Up in Hondo, Texas.

Each year the Medina County Fair Grounds is transformed into Cowboy Country for a full day of unique, family friendly activities. There is something for everyone, cowboy or not, at the Round Up. Round Up activities center around authentic chuck wagons from across the state competing for cash prizes in multiple cooking categories in the annual College for Cowboys Chuck Wagon Round Up. The professional wagon crews, sponsored by local businesses, will also prepare meals for the public. Cowboy sized portions of country fried steak, beans, potatoes, bread, and cobbler all cooked over a wood fire are on the menu. Chuck wagon meal tickets go on sale in early November each year and typically sell out before the event. All meal ticket holders are also entered in a drawing for a brand new, high quality shot gun or rifle.

And then, there's the Round Up Dance that evening. The dance requires a separate ticket, but Meal/Dance combo tickets are also available. You decide how much fun you think you can stand!

So, plan to ‘cowboy up’ and come on out to ‘God’s Country’ for a full day of food, fun and friendly western atmosphere that you can’t beat, even with a genuine cast iron skillet!

Here's What Went on in 2011 . Stay Tuned for Next year's Happenin's. Ya'll Don't Want To Miss It.
