Authentic chuck wagons from all over Texas will converge on Hondo City Park #1, site of the Medina County Fair, for the first annual College for Cowboys Chuck Wagon Round Up and Prairie Gathering.
Come and observe old-fashioned outdoor cooking techniques in a truly western atmosphere. Each wagon will prepare meals of country fried steak, beans, potatoes, bread and cobbler so that a team of judges can sample them all and award the coveted grand prize to the best Chuck Wagon team. The chuck wagon teams will also serve the same delicious food to all meal ticket holders in attendance. Meal tickets are only $15, which includes grounds admission and a chance to win a $350 shotgun. The center piece of the event is the chuck wagon competition, but the entire day will be filled with good food, unique entertainment and fun activities for the kids. The day ends with a concert and dance featuring Nashville recording artist, Gabe Garcia, and local favorite, Keith Lutz.
